Anemone Reef or Hin Jom (meaning submerged rock) consists out of a single large rock or pinnacle literally covered in anemones, mainly green, blue and purple of color. Most dives start at the base of the pinnacle where you can see sleeping leopard sharks and bamboo sharks. From there you can gradually dive shallower circling around the flat pinnacle. The pinnacle stops at five meters below the surface which is a great place to do a safety stop. It once reached the surface until the King Cruiser struck the reef and levelled it by five meters. Anemone reef is one of the top attractions for Phuket, Kho Phi Phi and Ko Lanta and lies less then a mile north of Sharkpoint, another favourite in the area. Both are designated as the Hin Mu Sang Fisheries Reserve in 1992 and fishing and shell collecting is therefore not allowed.

Anemone Reef is a dive site especially beautiful because of its exceptional colourful underwater landscape. Underwater naturalist, fish identification, photography and film are some of the dive specialties you should do here and nowhere else in the Phuket region. Its huge numbers of anemones are the reason that five different species of clownfish inhabit the reef. Other creatures such as anemone crabs, shrimp, white eyed morays, yellow margined morays and poisonous banded sea snakes are found swimming around the rocks. Groups of lion fish, porcelain crabs, lemon sea fans and many other common coral fish can be seen. Enjoy this fantastic dive site with loads of marine fish encounters.
