Just southwest of Ko Samui near Ban Phang Ka are five very small uninhabited islands often referred to as Five Islands. Although diving around Ko Samui is often murky, dark and dead, there are still some excellent places to go. Five Islands is one of these places with a wide array of marine life and some good coral formations. The island's steep cliffs are famous for the birds that live in them. Swiftlets use their saliva to build a nest. This hardened nest is named white gold and sells for a lot of money on the Japanese market who make bird soup of it. It is of course strictly prohibited to disturb the birds. Enjoy this easy nearby training dive site.
