The Gulf of Thailand is not the best place in Thailand to go diving, but it still has some very nice dive sites though. Especially the region near Ko Rin and Koh Chang are not well explored yet and can turn out to be absolutely spectacular. These sites are not as crowded as well, which adds to the charm. The best time to visit the northern Gulf is from November to April. The climate is at its driest then and the water temperature is around 24 degrees. Pattaya is more a touristy area than a world class diving location. It is also a good and cheap place to start a dive course or take a refreshment course. But if you are really interested in diving and want to do more than just to try a little bit, it is probably better to go to more south.
