Ko Ha is one of the most popular diving destination en route to Hin Muang and Hin Daeng. It actually are five very small islands about twenty kilometers southwest of Koh Lanta, but most tour operators choose to dive near the two large caves off Ko Ha Yai, the largest of the five islands. Both caves have huge openings making it safe for all divers to enter. Although the cave is bright enough to dive without light we strongly advice to bring one. Use your torch to take a closer look at the caves sides and see what kind of critters are living inside the cracks and on the rocks.
When the weather is good most divers choose to start at the sloping reef at the west of this island. There you can find some excellent patches of coral, coral bommies and healthy soft corals. Follow the reef to the west until you reach the two main caverns. Many silver coloured fish, crabs and lobsters can be found there. But its most rewarding feature is its magical filtering of sunlight especially during sunset and sunrise. Inside the cave it is possible to surface seeing some huge stalactites dangerously hanging on the ceiling. There are also some excellent swimmthroughs but be careful here. Always know where you are going as the cave system at the back of the main chamber is known to be narrow and dangerous. You can enter a narrow passageway of twenty meters long ending up inside a small chamber with not much to see actually. Only go here when properly trained as overhead environments can cause for unexpected behaviour, kicked up silt and disorientation.
