Welcome to Palong, one of the nicest stretches of marine life in the Koh Phi Phi National Marine Park! Situated on the stunning Phi Phi Lei Island, not far from the famous Maya Bay is this fantastic set of dive sites. Extra special care should be taken diving here, so as not to damage the one of the world's most important remaining habitats for the critically endangered Hawksbill Turtles found on this dive site. It really is not rare to see up to 5 Turtles on a single dive.
Other sights such as Frog fish, Black Tip Reef Shark and Leopard Shark can also be seen here, and there is also an exciting cave halfway between the palong bay area and the bend round the cliff towards Maya. The corals and bio-diversity of marinelife in general is simply spectacular on this dive site. Large schools of fish circle the interesting sloping reefs, walls, and rocky outcrops.
Really there are three dive sites here, depending on your air consumption. By dropping in not far from Maya you can end at the cave. Or dropping in at Palong bay gives you the option of the middle reef heading towards to cave and Maya or in the other direction back towards Viking point is especially good for sharks.
