Ko Phi Phi Don is the largest and only inhabited island of the Phi Phi chain, offering a wide range of budget and top level accommodations and dive tours. For more information visit Phi Phi Island Hotels. Together with Phi Phi Lee, Ko Yung (mosquito island) and Ko Mai Pai (bamboo island) they are part of the protected Nopparat Thara Beach or Koh Phi Phi National Marine Park. They sit right in the middle of Phang Nga Bay just forty kilometres south of Krabi fifty kilometres southeast of Phuket. Its name is derived from the Malaysian words Pulau Pi ah Pi which means something as island pi ah pi, anglicized to its current name.

Phi Phi's scenery above water is absolutely as spectacular with monolithic limestone mountains rising almost vertically to heights of half a kilometer. All its small bays and white sandy beaches create an exotic tropical panorama, perfect for excellent diving trips but also for nipping a cocktail at the beach, enjoying its cool breezes and nice year-round temperature. Diving is comfortable with water temperatures almost reaching the thirties all year long.

Phi Phi Don offers excellent beaches and several dive sites around its shores. The most famous is probably Hin Pae which is a shallow reef reachable after a two hundred meter swim from shore. Most nearby sites are used mainly by training divers enrolling in their open or advanced open water course. The 2004 tsunami hardly damaged anything of its abundant and colourful underwater coral reefs and marine life. So diving here continues to be an amazing experience. Enjoy this dive paradise.
