The Gulf of Thailand is a good place in Thailand to go diving with several very nice dive sites and wrecks. Popular wrecks are the Thai steamship the Hardeep and the two US Landing Crafts HTMS Khram and the HTMS Kood, all huge ships for advanced scuba divers that sank because of WWII. The region near Ko Rin and Koh Chang are not well explored yet and can turn out to be absolutely spectacular. These sites are not as crowded as well, which adds to the charm.
In the Pattaya area (The North of the Gulf) there is 365 days diving with best time and highest visibility generally between November and April. The climate is at its driest then and the water temperature is around 24 degrees. Pattaya is more a touristy area than a world class diving location. It is also a good and cheap place to start a dive course or take a refreshment course. For those only visiting Thailand for its diving, we suggest going more to the south.
