Novice and professional divers will have a great time scuba diving in Thailand. Phuket, Krabi, Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngang, Koh Tao and Pattaya all offer good coral diving. The Pattaya area not only offers three great regularly dived wrecks but also another six that are occasionally dived, making it a preferred destination for divers around the world. Many Pattaya hotels offer dive guides to help you find the best diving locations around the area as well. Aside from these locations, there are other places that are a bit more remote such as the Trang region, Similan Islands, and Surin Islands, which that offer great dive sites as well with better visibilities and better coral and marine life. Also for beginners these are great places to consider. It is easy to rent equipment and many of the dive boats are willing to take you out on a dive tour if our hotel doesn’t already offer a tour. The islands around Thailand have become go-to destinations for divers because of the rich sea life and clear waters.
Thailand is besides diving and snorkelling known for its pristine beaches, partying, cultural heritance, temples, wats and stupas. There are many thick forests, national parks and religious experiences so no time to get bored here. Thai cooking is world renowned and is available in five star expensive restaurants to simple footstalls on the streets. Backpackers, family holidays, one week beach resorts; everything can be booked at affordable prizes.
For the experienced divers a great trip out is to take live-aboards out to the Similan Islands and Surin Islands. Diving here is absolutely fantastic with many different types of fish and many different types of dives. Wall, drift and caves are just a few of them. Protection in the form of marine parks is better controlled and regulated by the government every day.
Make sure that you go in the right diving season because there are times that diving is impossible at certain places in Thailand. The Gulf of Thailand is hit by monsoons between November and April, while diving in the Andaman Sea is at its best during these months. Water temperatures range from 24 in the north of the Gulf of Thailand to 29 degrees in the south. So there is no time that you can't dive Thailand, but you have to pay attention to the season.
