Ko Rok is famous for its huge lizards and squirrel like mammal which is called rok in Thai, giving the islands its name.

Ko Rok are two small equal sized limestone islands named Ko Rok Nai and Ko Rok Nok separated by a fantastic fifteen meter shallow channel. Its underwater topography is mainly fringe hard coral reefs with loads of sheet, table and staghorn corals. The islands are quite large and offer enough excitement for divers who love explorer dives, new interesting things found even until today. Most diving is shallow with high visibility and weak currents making it perfect for snorkelling and diving with chances of seeing almost all Andaman sea species. Remember that both islands are part of the Mu Koh Lanta National Marine Park where fishing is strictly forbidden.

The two twin islands are thirty kilometres south of Ko Lanta Yai, visible from Kantiang Bay on a clear day. It is easy to book one day tours from Ko Lanta and shore. Overnight trips are harder to book but many travellers have done so by renting a private longtail boat. No resorts are present at the island but there is a ranger's office that can help you with some very basic camping and cooking necessities for staying the night. The two islands have excellent powder-white sandy beaches, giant monitor lizards and are covered in rainforest and mangrove trees. Some huge banyan trees have a six meter wide trunk. Try to explore its pretty beaches and forests as well when diving around these beautiful islands.
