Koh Racha Yai or Big King Island (Raja or Raya in short) is one of your best bets in the Phuket region. Racha Yai is known for its clear, healthy waters which attract a very vivid and divers marine life. Its dive sites are quiet (current wise) compared to its southern neighbour Ko Racha Noi. The east side, named bay one to five, which is protected from the southwest monsoon generally offers the best diving with excellent dive sites such as Lucy's Reef, a shipwreck named Marla's Mystery and Staghorn Reef. Many of the dives here are drift dives along brilliant hard coral walls. The west side has two larger bays named Siam Bay and Bungalow Bay which are common for snorkellers and trainees.

Marine life is spectacular along the shores of this beautiful tropical paradise. All the common reef fish are living here in huge numbers, its waters are crystal clear and there are white beaches and lush green scenery. Pipefish, mating cuttlefish, blue-spotted stingrays in the sand, leopard sharks, juvenile barracuda's, giant titan trigger fish, hawksbill turtles are just a few we would like to mention here. There are immense soft corals and hard corals, mainly dominated by staghorn and table corals. The dive sites around the island are suitable for snorkellers, novice and advanced divers reachable year around in all sorts of weather.
