Ko Sawang is a very steep island reaching depths of up to seventy meters just a little bit from shore in the west. Most diving is done across a nice hard coral garden on the east of the island which slowly descents from five to thirty meters deep. You can see the brightest anemones, feather stars and some excellent boulders and pinnacles. Besides the common pelagic are sharks, mantas and even whale sharks that are sometimes seen waiting for their appetizer out in the open. It is one of the better dive areas most often reached by dive tours from Koh Lipe after a 45 minutes boat trip.
