Ko Chi is the northern most island of the Surin archipelago with an excellent fringe reef off its western side. Species of turtles such as the hawksbill, oliver ridley and green turtles are a common sight. Koh Chi is one of the islands where they come across to lay their eggs. Other animal life includes crabs, shrimps, mangrove whiprays and white- and blacktip reefsharks. The west of Ko Chi is a popular dive spot for a night dive as well.

Divers sometimes visit the north end of the island. There you can find some excellent muck diving with many marine fish and other creatures hiding between the piles of granite boulders. Some small overhangs or mini caves are present with loads of regal angelfish hiding in them.
