Boonsung Wreck or Boansung Wreck is the only mentionable dive site just offshore Kao Lak. She is a sixty meter long, ten meter wide and six meter high tin ore processor, located at only twenty minutes west of Kao Lak. Today she is situated in a north to south direction at only twenty kilometres from Tap Lamu pier. Because of the age, coverage of coral and instability it is not recommended to enter the wreck, not even for trained wreck divers. Dive shops have found and created other inshore dive sites but it will take quite some years before those can compete with other better known dive sites.
Famous residents are large schools of curious lionfish and some huge moray eels. Mackerel, barracuda's, yellow snappers and other predators hunt at the smaller fish which are numerous because it is the only artificial reef for miles. The wreck is swarmed with porcupine fish, batfish and other colourful reef fish. It is a great dive site to do once in the area and perfect to join the wonderful world of diving.
